To remember the birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar, Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated on April 14 every year. Dr. Ambedkar was a political genius who tried to make this world a better place. He was born in Mhow on 14th April 1891. His family belonged to Dalit caste. His father worked in the British East India Company. He was not from a rich family background. He was not permitted to sit in the classroom due to this depressed caste.
D.r Babasaheb Ambedkar completed his schooling at the Elphinstone High School. He went to Mumbai and completed his graduation in economics & political science from the Elphinstone College. He also holds master degree in Economics at Columbia University where he got the scholarship. He used his scholarship and completed Doctor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Dr. Ambedkar was against crime and Untouchability. Mahatma Gandhi was his great inspiration. Ambedkar played a crucial role in Harijan Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. He worked a lot to protest against crime, social injustice, and untouchability faced by people from other backward castes. He was a born Hindu but he doesn’t like his religion as he believed that Hinduism is the foundation of the caste system. So, he converted into Buddhism.
Being a master degree holder, he had a massive knowledge of everything from politics to economics. This is why he is called as the king of Indian constitution. He was served as the Military Secretary, but he gave up this job in a short time. In his autobiography, he gave a detailed description on why he had to quit his first job. His autobiography, “Waiting for a visa”, is quite popular still today. Then, he searched for many jobs to survive. He worked as an accountant for some years. Following this, he learned about business and founded a business firm. Unfortunately, his startup had failed when few of his clients came to know that he was from depressed caste. In spite of his job loss, he never gave up. He served as a professor in the Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics. He was an honest and successful professor but other professors in his college ignored him a lot. They don’t even share water jug with him.
He remained as the principal of the Government Law College for 2 years. He was also appointed as the honorable chairman of Ramjas College after the death of the ex. Chairman of this college. He settled in Mumbai where he built a large house to hold his personal diary along with his favorite books. In the same year, his wife passed away and leaving him heart-broken. When she was alive, she told him about his last desire to go to Pandharpur at once in her lifetime, but Ambedkar doesn’t let her go rather he said that he can build a new pandharpur for her. In short, we can state that he was perfect people who balance out both the carrier and life at the same time.
